The CSSA/ACA D&O insurance for 2004/2005 expires November 1, 2005. All clubs not carrying their own D&O Insurance are urged to purchase or re-new D&O Insurance from Alpine Canada (good to November 1, 2006).

Please advise Erin Armstrong, Manager, National Services at Alpine Canada by October 15th if you wish to renew or purchase. An invoice (for Canadian coverage) will follow from BC Alpine.

If your club wishes to broaden coverage from “claims brought in Canada only” to “claims brought on a worldwide basis” you need to contact Erin by October 22nd, 2005.

In the event that your organization already carries D&O Insurance, we would require a copy of the certificate in lieu of payment to be sent to the Manager, National Services by October 22nd, 2005 (Erin Armstrong, Suite 200, 505-8th Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta T2P 1G2). BC SKI TEAM & DEVELOPMENT TEAM
 • CHILE TRAINING!

All the hours in the gym over the summer are being put to good use now as the BC Ski Team men and women arrived to find sunshine and perfect snow in Portillo, Chile.  Although some of their equipment followed them to South America a day late (they needed the first day to free-ski anyway), conditions have been ideal and everyone is benefiting from long, productive days of gate training.  The forecast continues to be in their favour and they look forward to two more weeks – the women, slightly less – of excellent gate-training opportunities.  Between runs they keep their eyes open for a glimpse of one of the US National Team guys ripping through a course – an inspiration to any ski racer!

MEN (coached by Dale Stephens and Glenn Thomsen)
Dustin Fraser (MWSC)
Matt Holler (WMSC)
Ben Chaddock (WMSC)
Trevor Conroy (WMSC)
Ben Thomsen (WVSC)
Jonathan Hadley (WMSC)

Alison Leighton (WMSC)
Lindsay Kraft (Vernon Ski Club)
Danielle Robson (WMSC)

 • FIS B2B BACK AT IN ON DRY LAND!

The FIS B2B development group recently wrapped up a 4 day fitness camp in Whistler.  They were joined by Dave Ellis (Alpine Canada Director of Sports Science), guest coach Ross Gardner (Vancouver Ski Team Head Coach) and Sport Psychologist Karen McNeill.  Goals over the 4 days were to continue to raise the intensity of the group in a strong team environment, to challenge the athletes in new activities and to continue work on mental skills activities.

The competitive ‘B2B’ environment certainly challenges everyone involved to push themselves to their maximum. Fitness testing, mountain biking, hiking, weight training and even boxing were on the agenda.  The team is now entering a 6 week dryland block before getting back on snow in early November at Panorama.

B2B Athletes in attendance:  Conrad Pridy (WMSC), Ian Cumming (Apex), Evan Moore (Vernon), JD McLean (WMSC), Stan Rey (WMSC), Trevor Rose (WVSC), Daniel Penn (WMSC), Elli Terwiel (Sun Peaks), Kelsey Serwa (Big White), Sandra MacDonald (Apex), Victoria Glowczynski (Sun Peaks), Jennifer Mah (WMSC)

Invitees in attendance:  Toria Whitney (WMSC), Sasha Zaitsoff (Red Mountain), Morgan Pridy (WMSC), Sarah Marshal (WMSC)
